Are people getting nostalgic younger and younger?

Typically pop culture nostalgia operates on a 20 or 30-year cycle, which is why you see so many '80s and '90s revivals happening currently. Yet it seems that nostalgia for the cartoons of the 2000s is arriving early for me. As someone in his middle 20’s, I’m frequently found reminiscing online about the animated shows I grew up with.

Generation Z and the later-born Millennials had a plethora of great TV to watch growing up, spread through several channels like Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Nickelodeon & Disney Channel. The 2000s served to have a wide host of good quality shows, as cartoons got more experimental and bizarre, and likewise, many adopted long-form storytelling and were more serious.

I think it's time to take a look at some of my favorite classics. I’ve made this tier list that will include some entries for my favorite shows that technically started in the late '90s, but the majority of their run was in the 2000s. It won't include anything that started after 2013 and ran for the majority of the 2010’s thereafter. I’ve also made a tier list of my favorite Disney Channel Classic Shows.

I remember we had to cancel our DStv subscription back in 2013 due to financial reasons. At this time, some of my favorite shows were the last to be aired on Disney Channel South Africa.

P.S, our TV broke shortly after anyways, maybe it felt neglected?

A family member gave me their DStv Premium Subscription Details back in 2019, allowing us to watch DStv again online via DStv Now.

I also remember getting a brand new TV for Christmas that had very bad resolution. It turned out to be my eyes instead. I had to make an appointment with an optometrist.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed to find out that none or very little of these shows are still airing today, making it absolutely pointless for me to have DStv again.
